Hey there, I'm May.

I'm a multi-hyphenate artist who is obsessed with film, nostalgia, and reflection.

Writer, Director, Filmmaker.

My obsession with cinema started at an early age. I've always been a storyteller and performer, putting on half-baked plays in my parent's suburban house. My fascination with the early 2000s stems from this time, and as an adult, I chase the nostalgia of growing up in a time of cassettes and blackberry phones. This feeling is infused throughout my work, as I explore themes of identity, love, friendship, and betrayal.

As a teenager, I began writing and directing my own short films with a VHS camera I found in my parent's basement. This turned into my first production company, "Carystreet Cinematics", based in my hometown of Richmond, Virginia. I grew a following on social media. I began to reach out to filmmakers all across the US and even internationally. An independent pilot I wrote, "Into the Shadows", was directed and produced in Portugal, and went viral on Tiktok and Youtube. From there, I co-founded a new venture, "Pocket Productions" with my collaborator Rebecca Gendron. Our mission is to tell unique stories from all across the globe as well as connect the global indie film community.

Currently, we are working on our first feature film "Under the Same Sky", an anthology film connecting short stories from all seven continents. The film is in pre-production. Additionally, my short film script "The Worst Choices" placed as a finalist in Shore Script's Short Film Fund and was in the top 10 of Coverfly's Red List. I hope to produce and direct the short in the near future.

Apart from filmmaking, I am a writer. My slate includes two features, four pilots, and dozens of short films as well as short stories and flash fiction. My other passions include music and songwriting as well as yoga and travel.
